Cookies

What is a cookie?
|
A cookie is a small piece of code that a website gives to you, via your web browser. Cookies can be used for a variety of purposes, but most commonly they are used to give sites information about their users. In this way, sites can appear to 'remember' information about visitors, such as passwords, preferences and viewing habits.
As far as clogging your machine goes, this is unlikely as cookies are very small - usually text files stored in a cookies directory within your browser applications memory on your local hard drive. As far as security goes, cookies can't spread viruses as they are not executables, i.e. programs that can contain viruses.
You're not damaging your PC or software by using a cookie - you're only increasing the information that websites hold about you. If you don't like this, then you can use your browser to restrict or even cancel their use. |
| Persistent cookies are stored on your computer until the expiry date embedded in the cookie. |
| Session cookies expire when the browser is closed. |
| This site uses both types of cookie to facilitate the Store and other database operations. |

|
Which third parties may see information about you?
|
| We will not disclose your name or postal
address or any data that could identify you to any third party without first
receiving your permission, unless it has been posted in a discussion page or
Guest Book article, and its use is relevant to that article. Everything
posted in such an article is open to all viewers. |
| We share information with partners who provide products and
services that you request. For instance, if you
wish to have more information on a particular product we will, with (and
only with) your permission, pass them the relevant information in order for them
to fulfill your request. Our partners only see information relating to
your specific requirement. |
